Donations needed for ‘Shop With A Cop’ program

Children in need, with the help of a local officer, will shop for loved ones at Target on Dec. 1

The Northampton Township Police Benevolent Association is participating in a program called “Shop With A Cop.” This program is for children in the community between the ages of 5-12 years.

The children are chosen based on need: financial, disability, family stress, foster/kinship, etc. These children will meet with police officers from the department at the Target store in Langhorne. The officers will then accompany their child as they holiday shop for their families. This event will be held on Sunday, Dec. 1.

Northampton Township police officers will be partnering with officers from Middletown Township, Newtown Township, Newtown Borough, Lower Makefield Township, Upper Makefield Township and Lower Southampton Township. There will be children from each of these municipalities participating in this event.

Each child is given a certain amount of money, based on donations received. There are approximately 28 children in need in Northampton Township. The hope is to give each of them between $125-$150.

Donations can be made online to the Middletown Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) corporation, at middletowncf.org/donate.php.

Checks made payable to Middletown Community Foundation can be mailed to Middletown Township Police Department, Attn: Officer Melissa Robison, 5 Municipal Way, Langhorne, PA 19047. Please note “Northampton Township Shop w/a Cop” in the memo section.

Any donations are made tax deductible and donors will receive a letter for tax purposes.
